On November 28-29, 2022, the official and most exclusive event of Argentina’s lithium industry concluded its work, after successfully bringing together 200 senior representatives of Argentine authorities, the mining industry, as well as local and international players and investors.
As announced by the Undersecretary of Mining Development, Pamela Morales, speaker at the Summit, «Argentina is part of the lithium triangle that contains 65% of the world’s resources».
The Argentina & LATAM Lithium Summit 2022 was organized by IN-VR’s The Net-Zero Circle.
During this first edition of the country’s international and national lithium meeting, 30 industry experts discussed crucial topics ranging from the status of ongoing and future lithium projects in Argentina and LATAM, innovations and equipment to boost lithium production worldwide, as well
as presenting important lithium battery projects.
The Summit was supported by the Secretary of Mining of the Nation as well as the provinces of Salta, Jujuy, Catamarca and the British Embassy in Buenos Aires, sponsored by important companies of the value chain, such as YPF, Contreras, Aggreko, Cannacord Genuity,
ArcelorMitall Acindar, Fusion Enertech, Ausenco, Dreicon, AguaEx, Servigruas and CIMC Wetrans Delfin Group. In addition to those mentioned above, the country’s main industry players, such as JEMSE, GanfengLithium, Lithium Americas, Rio Tinto, Lítica Resources, and Lithium South, as well as regulators, investors, service providers, among many others, were perfectly able to create a networking platform that allowed them to meet the main figures, keep
updated on trends, publicize their respective businesses, and get inspired.
During his speech, Roberto Salvarezza, President of YPF Lithium & Y-TEC, mentioned that we must look at lithium as an opportunity; YPF’s vision is not only limited to the exploration and exploitation of gas and oil, but also aims to industrialize lithium and add value to it. Specifically, he stated that «the challenge is to make the leap from the salt flats to industrialization». This
summarizes the global response received by the participants during the Argentina & LATAM Lithium Summit 2022, which exemplifies the incredible potential that Argentina has, and the challenges ahead, but foreseeing the exceptional future that awaits the country.
In addition, Romina Sassarini, Secretary of Mining and Energy of Salta, referred to the vast potential of the province, stating that «Geographically, the province of Salta has the highest concentration of Lithium». In addition, Sassarini highlighted the importance of the development of strategic works and the great potential for the future of the industry.
After the Summit, participants from different segments of the mining industry showed their immense satisfaction for the event, established new bridges between companies and institutions and confirmed their attendance and support for the next annual edition.
